This case study looks at the brand effectiveness of the hottest new media channel, mobile in-game advertising. To help ensure diversity of talent across our business, we have taken multiple steps to improve the inclusivity of our recruitment process. This includes training our leadership team about unconscious bias, applying an IDE framework to our supplier list and working with the Government's Kickstart scheme to create jobs and provide experience for young people on Universal Credit.

Rather than taking a top-down approach, we at Teads wanted to engage our employees in how we should improve inclusion and diversity within the team. To do this, 14 Teads employees have set up the Culture Committee to decide IDE priorities and set the agenda when it comes to implementing change.

At Telegraph Media Group, we wanted to find a way to bring staff together and support International Women’s Day on 8 March 2021, while we were in a national lockdown. ‘4 Miles 4 Change’ saw our staff do four miles of exercise with family and friends during the first week of March, raising money for charity Smart Works – which supports women back into the workplace.

There is a commonly held belief that ‘gamers’ are men aged between 18 and 34 – but the reality is much more diverse. At GameSpot, a Red Ventures owned company, we wanted to dispel the myth of who a gamer is and show marketers that gaming is a means of reaching a hugely diverse demographic. We did this by working with the Association of Online Publishers and Some Research to carry out a survey, giving us a more granular view of the gaming audience.

We wanted to open up opportunities for students who had not previously seen careers in Media as a possible option. In order to do this, we partnered with a school local to the Spark Foundry offices in Hammersmith and Fulham to fill apprenticeship roles and provide invaluable experience for those considering their career options.

Covering topics from cultural appropriation to flexible working, the Lotame Inclusion and Diversity Newsletter is a key way for us to share IDE initiatives within the company, raise important issues and engage staff in a fun and accessible way. The newsletter is run by an open group of up to 20 employees, and we encourage staff to share the content with friends and family.

Mentoring has long been an established tool in our industry to help young people develop their careers, but we wanted to reverse the roles in order to broaden the perspectives of the Zenith leadership team. Reverse mentoring sees our executive leadership team paired up with junior members of staff so that both can learn from one another, expand their horizons and examine previously held beliefs.

At Index Exchange (IX), celebrating Black History Month is an opportunity to learn, share and build greater allyship. A number of initiatives have been set up, including an internal affinity group committed to empowering Black employees, an Anti-Racism Book Club with the aim of educating and gaining allies among our staff and a dedicated Slack channel to encourage employees to share and support one another.

LADfamily sets out to improve employee wellbeing and create a healthy work/life balance where LADbible Group employees feel supported. Initiatives include paid time off for fertility treatment, paid leave to help employees cope with pregnancy loss and tax savings on childcare costs. By introducing these policies, we have opened up conversations around difficult moments that often aren’t shared at work.

At Moloco, we wanted to create a safe space for staff to come together and discuss different topics surrounding diversity and inclusion, share their experiences and learn from one another. Quarterly Inclusion Lunches see us bring the whole team together to cover how we can create a more inclusive workspace and apply our IDE learnings in everyday life.
