Independent audit of the Gold Standard process

In early 2020, the Gold Standard certification process was audited to assure thoroughness and rigour and to demonstrate the certificate's value to the industry. ABC undertook the audit as an independent third-party.

In its current form, the Gold Standard brings together industry programmes to combat ad fraud, increase brand safety and improve the digital advertising experience for users. Companies need to take three steps to certify: implement IAB Tech Lab's ads.txt, undergo an independent JICWEBS DTSG audit and adhere to the principles set out by the Coalition for Better Ads.

The auditor had detailed discussions and walkthroughs of our process with the team and reviewed evidence across a random selection of certified companies.

ABC audited our Gold Standard certification process, noting it is well governed by the IAB and well served by the Gold Standard cross-industry group that reviews key decisions. They shared some practical tips on what could improve and we are implementing these changes. Not only does this audit provide assurance of the Gold Standard's thoroughness, but it also allows us to put in place extra internal measures to maintain the same level of rigour as the Gold Standard evolves. The process will be audited every 12 months to ensure standards remain high.
