Google marks 19th birthday with content repurpose

Brands shouldn't underestimate the power of repurposing digital content - even Google got in on the action to celebrate its 19th birthday.

Search engine giant Google celebrated its 19th birthday yesterday (September 27th), marking the occasion by repurposing some of its content from the past two decades.

Google made 19 of its past 'doodle games' available again for just one day as part of the celebrations. The move gained a huge response across social media, demonstrating the power that content repurposing can have.

From this, brands should learn never to underestimate the power of repurposing digital content; something new doesn't always need to be created if there is old content that an audience has responded well to. However, care does need to be taken to ensure it is promoted and targeted in the best ways.

To mark its birthday, Google also released some new statistics on its user base, which show that there are over 4.5 million people across 160 countries now using the search engine each year in 123 different languages.
