Warner Bros. Discovery’s TV+ campaign reimagines search as a cinematic experience to promote new DC film
Warner Bros. Discovery is taking home July’s Joy of Digital Award for ‘Super Search’ - a playful, platform-wide campaign that transformed Roku’s search function into a branded hub for all things ‘Superman’.
Timed to build buzz ahead of the film’s release, the campaign marked a first-of-its-kind activation on the homepage. From a branded search bar and pinned content row to voice-enabled queries and a bespoke microsite, every element of the experience was geared towards driving visibility, curiosity and cinematic anticipation.
“It’s super smart, super seamless and - let’s face it - super fun,” said Joy, Chief Digital Cheerleader and Chair of the Joy of Digital Awards. “It turns passive browsing into active discovery, showing just how far TV+ platforms can go when you think beyond the pre-roll.
“Warner Bros. didn’t just promote ‘Superman’- they built an entire world fans could step into, a portal into fandom. And yes, I’m jumping in with all paws.”
From hero visuals on the home screen to exclusive behind-the-scenes content, every touchpoint helped bring the ‘Superman’ universe to life for streaming audiences - offering fans a reason to “look up” and tune in. The campaign was brought to life on Roku’s platform, marking a standout use of its TV+ capabilities.
