New co-chairs announced for IAB Video Steering Group

The IAB is excited to announce Steve Doyle, Chief Commercial Officer at InSkin Media, and Matthew Breen, Head of Video and Mobile at The Mail Advertising, as the new co-chairs of the Video Steering Group.

Steve and Matthew bring with them a wealth of experience in the video space so we’re delighted to have their expertise on board to - along with the other members of the Video Steering Group - help drive video growth.

Here’s what they had to say about their appointments…

“I was delighted to be asked to continue chairing the IAB’s Video Steering Group during 2017. Having done the role since 2012 I've seen the video sector grow beyond comprehension, but some of the core issues for advertisers, agencies, and tech companies remaining constant. This means there remains a huge amount of work to do on particularly effective measurement, creative, and classification, in order to make this enormous landscape navigable.

I was delighted with changes the IAB made to the steering group for this year both adding Matt Breen's experience and expertise on video to a co-chair position and also to push investment into the group so that we can deliver not just thought leadership and best practice principals but also some meaty research to add to real value to the group and the industry.

We have plenty of representation at the steering group but always welcome more input especially from the advertiser or creative communities. Video is a simple concept with a lot of complex nuances to it. At the IAB we will seek to explain to all how to make sense of the nuance so video advertising continues to flourish.”

Steve Doyle, Chief Commercial Officer at InSkin Media

“2016 was a breakthrough year for UK Video advertising. Assuming H1 growth continues through H2, the medium will break the £1 billion spend mark for the first time demonstrating insuppressible demand from advertisers.

With continued growth comes greater expectation and justifiably more questions to answer for our industry. Video advertising must now answer to the same scrutiny as its digital and offline counterparts, to justify value and return to advertisers. This communication is most effectively driven by the industry as a whole, with stakeholders working together to deliver consistent expectations of best practice.

Since 2009 the IAB Video council has performed a key role in setting standards, sharing case studies and providing training to move the industry on. 2017 sees the revamp of the steering group, and a decision of members to actively invest in the continued development of the industry. I am incredibly excited to be involved and to be co-chairing this group, with Steve Doyle. I strongly believe this industry will go from strength to strength and I feel that the steering group is perfectly placed to aid this progress. Watch this space.”
