The Role

Ad tech is at the centre of everything IAB UK does. This new role is key in making sure IAB UK is working hard on behalf of its members in the ad tech space whether it’s formulating positions on key issues, representing the industry’s views or formulating new standards that help with our overall vision of building a sustainable future for digital advertising.

Key Responsibilities:

 

The voice of Ad Tech at IAB UK – for members and the wider industry 

  • Formulate and communicate the IAB’s position on key ad tech issues

  • Be an external face of the IAB in the ad tech community, representing the IAB’s view of ad tech on panels and at industry events

  • Ensure IAB takes a proactive approach to ad tech developments and challenges, e.g. post cookie world, to make sure we’re delivering extra value for members 

  • Be an expert resource for key IAB members to help and advise on ad tech issues

  • Investigate ways for the IAB to finance its work in ad tech

  • Work with events and training to educate IAB members

  • Work with marketing to educate IAB members, translating complex technical issues into understandable and digestible outputs

  • Be an internal expert and resource to feed into industry groups and projects where needed

  • Along with Ad Tech Manager, run the ad tech group

  • Liaise with other IABs, for example IAB Europe on the Transparency Consent Framework

  • Oversee IAB UK’s relationship with IAB Tech Lab and make sure IAB UK members benefit from this

  • Oversee IAB input into JICWEBS and other ad tech initiatives

  • Liaise with other trade bodies to encourage a consistent industry approach to ad tech 

The owner of the IAB UK Gold Standard 

  • Have overall responsibility for the Gold Standard – owning evolution of the standard as well as awareness and uptake 

Management structure

  • Reports into the Chief Digital Officer

  • Manage the Ad Tech Manager

  • Works with other “Heads of” to develop a strong senior management team 

Skills, knowledge and characteristics

  • Someone who is passionate about and thrives in the ad tech space

  • Comfortable collaborator, confident in communicating with a range of stakeholders

  • Happy to present to large and small groups

  • Is able to explain concepts and make the complex simple

  • Equipped to develop a strategy and define key tasks (keeping CDO in the loop)

  • Good at prioritising – understands the importance of member requests and working in their best interests

  • Able to manage, support and lead (one direct report)

  • Up to speed on the industry press

  • Curious and solution focussed
