Twitter grows livestreaming further

Twitter partners with Cheddar to livestream content.

2016 has seen Twitter expanding its livestreaming offering, with a number of deals being made, particularly with sports leagues. The most notable was a partnership with NFL, that will result in the broadcast of regular season games.

The social platform is now growing this further, and its latest partnership with Cheddar will see livestreamed content focusing on technology, media and business.

Cheddar is a finance news startup headed by former Buzzfeed president and COO Jon Steinberg.

The first broadcast "Opening Bell" will be hosted by Jon Steinberg and Kristen Scholer from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, offering breaking news, interviews and profiles of business leaders.

Twitter CFO Anthony Noto said in a statement: "Partnering with Cheddar will give people on Twitter another way to watch and discuss the day's top stories as they unfold live, all on one platform."
