How to get the most out of your IAB membership

Being a member of the IAB gives you access to a wide range of resources that benefit your business and build your skills - including bespoke services to empower your teams with vital knowledge


So you’ve joined the IAB, you’ve had a read through Futurescape and been to a Last Thursday Club - but what else is on offer? Here we provide an overview of how you can get the most out of your IAB membership. And don’t forget: membership is on a company-wide basis, so every member of your team can access our resources.

The basics

By basics, we mean the fundamental things that you and your whole team should do to ensure you're kept in the loop. 

  • Create an account on our website using your work email address. Once you're logged in, you can access all of our training and insight 
  • Sign up to our emails via your membership dashboard. We send a weekly newsletter called The Edit on a Thursday that rounds up key industry updates from the week
  • Keep an eye on the events page. We host a range of events throughout the year - from small-scale Last Thursday Clubs to our flagship Engage. We also often partner with other industry events to give you exclusive discounts on ticket prices 
  • Submit to the IAB Member Vault. If we love your content, we’ll feature it on our monthly Member Highlights email
  • Do our on-demand training. All of our training courses are included within your membership. Just log in and select the module you would like to do 
  • Ask NORI. Our AI assistant is available to all IAB members and optimised to answer your digital advertising queries - NORI will pop up in the right hand corner when you’re on our site 
  • Try the Adspend Analyser. As the official measure of the UK’s digital ad market, our annual Digital Adspend report provides a timeline of market growth from 1997 onwards. Use our interactive Adspend Analyser to create and download bespoke ad spend charts comparing categories, formats, devices, environments and more to get the data most useful for you and your clients

The better 

Ready to go a step further? Take your membership up a gear by taking the following steps. 

  • Get Gold Standard certified. Arguably this should be in the basics as we want every eligible IAB member to be Gold Standard certified, but it is a little more work than signing up to our newsletter. Find out what’s involved here and why it matters
  • Join an IAB Community. You can find out all about them here, but essentially IAB Communities are sector-specific groups that coordinate initiatives that keep you informed, expand your network and give you a voice in shaping cross-industry initiatives
  • Pitch to be on The IAB UK Podcast. We get some great guests on the podcast and competition is strong when it comes to pitching - here’s how you can make yours stand out
  • Share session ideas. For big events like Engage or IAB Debrief, all members can pitch to get on stage. We will always share when these opportunities open and what we’re after via our newsletter

The bespoke 

Finally, and less well-known, is our bespoke advice service. We know that this industry can be complex and move extremely quickly but, as an IAB member, you’re not alone. You can call on our team of experts for advice - whether that’s a quick call or a session with your whole team. We can help with… 

  • Ad tech advice. Our ad tech team is on-hand to help you decode challenges and understand best practice, so don’t hesitate to get in touch. Send your problem to [email protected] and a member of our ad tech team will be in touch to help 
  • Policy problem? The same applies when it comes to policy and regulation. If you’re unsure what a new development means for your business, contact [email protected] we will be in touch. At the moment, we’re focused on helping our members prepared for the ‘Less Healthy Food & Drink’ ad ban and can host a session with your team to ensure everyone knows what’s happening
  • Insight on offer. As well as being able to access all of the insight on our site, you can also arrange for our Insight Team to host a session at your company to share a range of our latest research - from IAB Compass to Futurescape.
