Posted on Thursday 28 November 2024
In response to the government’s green paper, Invest 2035: The UK’s Modern Industrial Strategy, IAB UK has submitted its views to shape the future of policies impacting digital advertising
The government published the green paper in October, outlining a bold 10-year vision to incentivize growth in high-potential sectors while prioritizing Net Zero, regional development and economic resilience.
Our response zeroes in on the key consultation areas most relevant to our sector and urges the government to adopt a principles-based approach to digital policymaking that incentivises innovation, supports responsible self-regulation and recognises the critical role of digital advertising in economic growth.
Digital advertising is a cornerstone of the UK’s creative industries, driving significant economic benefits and technological advancements, such as AI and programmatic advertising, have enhanced the sector’s ability to connect businesses with consumers across a wide range of platforms.
As UK internet usage continues to grow, digital advertising is the most effective way for businesses to adapt to evolving consumer preferences, enabling rapid engagement across local and global markets.
By collaborating with the industry and prioritising evidence-led regulation, the government can ensure the sector continues to thrive and deliver widespread benefits. We believe a strong digital advertising sector can play a pivotal role in driving economic resilience while fueling creative and technological innovation.
IAB UK’s submission reflects our dedication to contributing to this process and ensuring the interests of digital advertising are represented. We look forward to engaging with policymakers and other stakeholders as the final industrial strategy takes shape, supporting the sustainable growth of our industry and the broader UK economy.
