Every year we meet the payment and borrowing needs of millions of UK customers from our base in Chester.

In 2006, MBNA became part of Bank of America – one of the largest financial institutions in the world.  The MBNA brand is still used as the consumer-facing brand in the UK market.  In November 2014, we were proud to have celebrated our 21st year in the UK market.

  • MBNA is one of the UK’s leading credit card providers, with over £7bn in credit card outstandings, representing 11% of the market share.

  • In the UK, MBNA has over 300 affinity partnerships with diverse organisations including Virgin Airlines, The British Heart Foundation, The AA, WWF, Manchester United FC, and The National Trust.

  • Our affinity partnerships are award winning: our Emirates Skywards Credit Card Accounts scooped ‘Best New Cobranded, Affinity or Loyalty Product’ at the Future Payments & Digital Banking Awards 2014.

  • According to an assessment carried out by the University of Chester in 2010, MBNA generated an economic impact of over £540million for the North West region.

  • Support for apprenticeships, qualifications and national accreditations in the last few years has seen almost 1,500 of our employees achieve accreditations and qualifications ranging from MBAs, National Vocational Qualifications and diplomas in Marketing to accreditation by the Institute of Credit Management.

  • MBNA is a major supporter of the local community and, as well as investment in culture, sport and the arts, it encourages its staff to volunteer their time to support community organisations.

  • In 2015 MBNA is partnering with Cheshire West and Chester Council to make a significant investment in Chester’s iconic new Cultural Centre, the largest cultural capital project under construction outside London.

  • MBNA donated more than £1 million in CSR and philanthropic investments during 2013, its 20th anniversary of operating in Chester.
